How to take care of my rug?
Handmade rugs offer great durability. They can be cleaned and repaired almost infinitely and should last a lifetime. We recommend vacuuming before cleaning. Use warm water or a non-abrasive wool-cleaning product. Use it on the whole surface of the rug uniformly and with a gentle motion. Use clean cloths until all dirt is removed and vacuum again.

New rugs can shed a bit of fluff, which is just excess fibres that were not properly incorporated into the yarn during spinning. This is normal! It is best to vacuum a rug often at first – after some time the fluffing will lessen and eventually cease.

Red Rugs uses only the best dyes that offer the most resistance to fading. However, there are no dyes that are completely ‘photo stable’ or impervious to fading in sunlight. Over time, any material left in strong sunlight will fade.

How does the process work?
All our rugs are hand tufted, using locally sourced 100% natural wool and made in Europe. The artist creates a design and then we strive to reproduce such design into a beautiful handmade rug. These are then sold in limited editions. Our editions range from 10 to 15 in number. Each rug sold comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed, dated and numbered by the artist.

How does the Order Process work?
In the store you can choose a rug and then use the enquire bottom to submit a form, choosing the size, quantity and providing us with your contact details (Name, Address, Email, Phone number). Once you submit your order, we will get in contact with you in less than 24 hours in order to define your order. Once all is agreed we will send you an email with the final price, inclusive of VAT (or not if you are not residing in the European Union) and the delivery costs. You just need to click on the link provided on the email to the PayPal website and pay by Credit, Debit or PayPal account transfer.

Delivery Times
Since our rugs are made to order, meaning that the order to produce the rug will only be sent to the workshop once the first payment is completed and are handmade rugs, we estimate a delivery time of 6 to 8 weeks once the order is placed. This includes the actual making of the rug itself.

All prices are inclusive of VAT, which is 23%. If your ordering outside the EU you will not be charged VAT.

What do I do if I want a custom sized edition rug?
You just need to send Red Rugs an email to with the desired size you want.

What if I want a rug from an artist Red Rugs does not currently work with?
Again, just send us an email at and we will discuss the possibilities.

Are you open to being contacted directly by an artist?
We certainly are, just go to our submissions menu and send us the requested information.
